Five Days to Go!

Less than a week to Election Day. I'm excited! I decided to take the day off (since Election Day should be a holiday) and help with the Get Out the Vote effort. I'll be working a noon-4 shift out of the Richfield Hub office.

I'm not sure this whole GOTV thing is really necessary, especially in Minnesota where voting is about as difficult as falling off a log, but I'm willing to give it a try.

Centennial Church is a polling place, and I'll be there to see the action, though I'll do my own voting closer to home.

GOTV is definitely necessary. You would be appalled at the number of people who let it slide until it's almost too late, for one reason or another - usually dumb.

It's actually kind of fun. You're hanging out with like-minded people, talking up the positions you are most passionate about. And you have to do it with a certain amount of flair and urgency... and tact, for those times when people disagree.

I was at the Franken/Clinton rally this evening, which was long but great. Had a brief chat with Ellison afterward.

KFAI wants me to be a reporter, so I'll probably do that on Election Night.
