I find it odd, annoying and well, unprofessional, when TV forecasters describe upcoming weather in value-based terms (as in "Better weather next week"). The thing is, we each have our own idea of what constitutes better or worse weather. In my opinion, weather doesn't come much worse than what it is doing outside right now: 35 degrees and seeping rain. But I'm sure that some moronic weatherman or another announced the upcoming thaw with cheery enthusiasm (warmer is better, right?) And no doubt if the weather were to revert to something really pleasant for February, like 15 degrees with blue skies and a fresh 6" of snow, weather forecasters would be describing it as if the anti-Christ were coming (Cold! Snow! Bad weather, bad!)

The only thing I LIKE about this weather is that it inspires me to take a trip to my health club, with its overly bright interior lighting, bubbling hot tub and menthol-enriched steam room. In fact, I think I'll go do that right now. Yum.
