There were lots of tracks on the Hiawatha golf course by the time I got there, but precious few cutting across the center of the circle to short-cut back to the park building. As a result I skiied quite a bit further than I usually do on my first time out. Not only that, due to the fact that it was too cold to stand still for very long, I was actually SKIING for most of the 50 minutes I was out there! The snow was perfect. I don't much like slush or icy sidewalks but I do love fluffy new snow!

[livejournal.com profile] minnehaha, a golf course really is the perfect venue for skiiers and snowshowers together because it is so completely open. If you'd been with me you could have snowshoed along beside the ski trail so we could talk. And if you'd felt like breaking trail for the part where I wanted to cut across the circle, that would've been nice. Although as it turned out the snow was so very light and fluffy that it wasn't much work to ski right through it.

My legs are really tired. But in a good way.
