The sky that is, which migrated through a spectrum of unholy color as the tornado sirens bansheed away. Despite all the drama, only a few drops of rain fell and there were no banks of cloud anywhere in sight dark and roiling enough to conceal a tornado. No fist-sized hail either. But something must have been going on somewhere in the metro area for the sky to look that strange.
Several neighbors were outside pointing cameras skyward in a futile effort to eff the uneffable. You know without even looking that those pictures will be totally uninteresting. The neighbor taking the flash pictures seemed especially misguided.
Whatever it was has sailed on northward now. There were a lot of dire predictions on the weather sites, but no actual confirmations of anything at all as of 9 pm. Anybody see any actual weather, or just baleful cosmic threatingness?
ETA: Apparently there was big hail (1"-2.5") right up the west side of the metro, from Eden Prairie up through Golden Valley, even clipping the west edge of downtown. And one alleged funnel cloud sighting (dubious).
I just discovered that wunderground.com has a tab called "Local Storm Reports" that just logs all the spotter reports. Cool.
