I... I think it might be spring
Feb. 26th, 2020 03:26 pm Sure, the high temps are dipping into the 20's tomorrow and Friday, but... damn! The sun is so bright that the ice has been melting briskly all day, even though it's below freezing. So much light is coming in our dismal, grimy windows that I haven't bothered turning on my SAD light for the past week. 40's and sun predicted for the weekend, followed by enough rain to hopefully take out the rest of the ice and snow. Dire Weather Predictions are turning from blizzard warnings to fretting about flooding. And that's what passes for spring in Minnesota.

When I was in Portland in early February there were flowers blooming! Mostly hardy flowers like daffy-down-dillies, but a few exuberant dandelions were starting to spring forth already. The weather was mostly miserable*, because February just isn't very nice anywhere, but the flowers could see what was coming.
* My definition of miserable is 40-something and drizzling, which is pretty much the default weather forecast for Portland in the winter. But we did have a couple of sunny days, which made 47 degrees seem suddenly pleasant. That's when we went for a walk and saw all those flowers!
