Heart reboot update
Jul. 2nd, 2022 02:41 pmI didn't think I was having symptoms from the AFib, but I guess I was. Because when my heart rhythm went back to normal I felt FANTASTIC. Yesterday I had more energy than I've had for, I dunno, years? I biked 4 miles (slowly), swam 1/4 mile (even more slowly), and had energy to spare for cooking dinner, running errands, and (according to Watch, which relentlessly counts everything) bounding up and down the stairs 17 times. Wrapped all my fitness rings multiple times over, and wasn't even particularly exhausted. My heart rate, which had been substantially elevated during the AFIB (although under 100 bpm) has clearly dropped. Now most of my resting HR readings are in the 50s, 60s and 70s (normal for me), with just occasional intervals where it pops back to the 80s and 90s as I was experiencing during AFib.
So yeah, I hope this lasts. I get the impression that the AFib will probably come back sooner or later. It sounds like this treatment is kind of like getting cortisone shots for your bad knee - it might help for a month or a year but it doesn't fix the underlying problem. But for now, definitely a success.
