St. John Trip Report - Heading Home [July 9, 2009]

Finally, a good sunrise picture! Typically morning is a little cloudy, but our last day dawns clear and lovely. I spring out of bed at dawn to snap the picture I've been trying to get for a week now.

	Souvenir shop at Bordeaux Mountain overlook We haven't been very good tourists - 8 days and no shopping (except for food). We stop to look at the view from what used to be a nice restaurant with the best view on the island. Sadly, the restaurant has been replaced with a string of extremely tacky souvenir shops. In protest we go across the street to the slightly classier Cozy Corner and buy a couple of things.
	Little lizard in the Catherineburg ruins There were actually two of them, having an excitingly vertical territorial battle on the wall right above this doorway. This is the winner. He's not as fearsome as he looks - only about 3 inches long.
	Catherineburg Ruins Another scenically abandoned sugar mill that just happens to be on Centerline Road, right on the way back to Cruz Bay.
	Picnic at Catherineburg We had to use up all our groceries, so Richard's carryon is full of sandwiches. We continued to eat them as we trekked through airports for the rest of the day.
