Um, "symptoms getting worse each day"? Very glad they fit him in...it's "today" now. In fact it appears to be in the past now, or at least ongoing.
Best wishes for Richard! It does sound like he's the perfect candidate for this -- heart sound, just problems in the plumbing feeding it. Which means he got in to check it out before much of any damage to the heart was done.
