An unworthy thought

A couple of news items, separated by several years, finally came together in my head.

Remember back when everybody was wondering whether Cheney's heart (physical, not metaphorical) was up to the stresses and responsibility of the vice-presidency, and then he got this fabulous space-age pacemaker-defibrillator and he was all fine again? Well, gosh. Wouldn't it be a shame if Cheney's defibrillator turned out to be one of those with the defect that makes it short out?

Wow, what a strange article. I'm not sure if it's meant to be taken seriously, is making a joke, or is just a huge product placement. In any case, I don't believe it. Graves disease is thoroughly treatable, so if Bush has it, he doesn't need to wear Maxwell Smart devices to keep from fainting. I think he's just terminally stupid. I still believe he was wearing a wire in that debate.

Cheney has one of those implantable pacemaker/defibrillator combo units, quite possibly manufactured by one of our hometown medical device companies. If it were in anybody other than Cheney, I'd be proud that it was working so well.
