I could've sworn that last year I found an online schedule for the daily summer performances at the Lake Harriet Bandshell. This year I can find neither hide nor hair of such a thing. I find it hard to believe that a comprehensive list is not available anywhere, but I can find no sign of one on the Mpls Parks website. You would think that they might print up a monthly or season schedule and post it somewhere in the park, but if anyone has ever done such a thing, I've never found it.

Strangest of all, even when someone is performing, there is frequently no indication who the performer is! The community bands usually have a small sign propped up against the stage (although you sometimes have to walk down close to the stage before you see it) but single performers often work in complete anonymity. I ride around the lake 2 or 3 times a week; typically I stop and listen to a performance number or two and then ride on with no idea who I was listening to. Informality is nice, but you'd think the performers would have a little more interest in letting people know who they are. And with all the pretty pictures and nice wordage on the park board site, there is remarkably little concrete information.

Anybody found a season schedule anywhere?

Well, by golly, there it is! How did you two find it? I googled on "lake harriet bandshell schedule 2006" and when that turned up I nothing I went to the parks home page and followed all the likely links. Never saw it.

Come to think of it, I might have gotten to that page with the picture of the bandshell on it, but not realized that there was a schedule down at the bottom.

Anyway, thanks. Darn, I missed Machinery Hill!

I googled on "Minnesota" and "music in the park." The first entry was an entrance to a trail of web pages which led to there.

I Googled on Lake Harriet Bandshell, which was one page from the final page.
