Week 2 marches on

dreamsharkHad a very successful phone interview with a contracting house today. They want to schedule a face-to-face interview. They like me! They don't necessarily have work for me, but they like me! Whee! I need to shop for interview clothes tomorrow. At the very least I need a decent pair of shoes.
Also called a couple of recruiters I'd worked with before, answered a few emails, forwarded some accumulated snail mail to Amber and nephew Ben at college, did some filing and paperwork. Rented a couple of movies (Tuesday is Cheap Movie Night at the local video store): Osmosis Jones and Primary Colors. I got Osmosis Jones mostly because Richard and Thorin like animation - I never expected a movie by the Farrelly Brothers to be funny. But it was a delightful surprise - not only was the animation endlessly inventive, the writing was consistently clever. On one level it's aimed at 12-year-olds, but like all the best kid movies it has a whole other level of humorous aside, wordplay, and visual punning that most kids won't get until years later. Good casting, too. Recommended, unless your tolerance for puke and snot jokes is zero (most, but not all, of the bodily fluids are animated). Said fluids are not just gratuitous nastiness, however; they are integral to the plot. The action alternates between the real world, where Bill Murray practices a health and hygiene regimen that would put Homer Simpson to shame, and the delightfully animated City of Frank, where his overburdened immune system desperately battles the internal effects of Frank's bad habits. Meanwhile, the corrupt Mayor Phlegming fights to hold onto power in Cerebellum Hall, and a maverick white blood cell takes on the super-germ Thrax that threatens to destroy the universe as they know it...
