It makes me nervous to have trouble walking two miles. Yikes. So I'm making a mental note to vary the exercise program a little more, walking at least once a week. The leg muscles that are apparently required for walking but not for biking seem to be the calves (not surprisingly), and a very specific set of muscles in the hip, just above where the legs hitch on. Who'da thunk it?

Walked to the Peace Garden and through the bird sanctuary. It was pretty and peaceful -- except for the constant racket of incoming planes. I'm not sure how the birds put up with it. Blecch. Since I couldn't hear the birds anyway I listened to an exceptionally good story on my iPod: "The Watching People" by Paul Berger.

You should join those of us who amble around Harriet more often. It's pleasant and usually includes a baby.:)

When do you usually walk?

Since I got up too late to walk this morning...

...I walked to the post office and back between 1210 and 1255.

Maybe I'll get ambitious enough to convert the walk into a run one of these days.

Good idea varying the exercise.
