Archie Archie Archie!!
Oct. 14th, 2003 02:09 pmOmigod, I've hit the motherlode of Archie comics! Two complete boxes of nicely stored Archie comics, mostly from the 60's and early 70's. Most of these books are in beautiful "Reader" condition - covers flat, glossy and square-cornered, strong staples, all pages intact. Other than slight yellowing of the pages, flaws are along the lines of light creases or nicks in the cover, or mild spine roll. Some have no flaws visible to my eye except for page tanning. I'd say they would be graded from VG at the low end up to some kind of Fine, maybe even VF for a few of them. Unfortunately, Archie comics aren't worth a great deal, there being such a mind-boggling number of them. I'm sorting through the boxes looking for early issue numbers, but other than that I'm not sure what to do with them.
Are any of you big Archie fans? Any particular issues you might be interested in? Anybody want to buy the entire collection? (Just thought I'd ask). I find I'm not getting nearly as attached to the Archies as I did to the Daredevils, but I do particularly like the Life With Archie series, where Archie and his pals star in sendups of superhero comics and popular tv shows (Man from U.N.C.L.E., Addams Family, Beverly Hillbillies...). I'm also a sucker for the Little Archie comics, which I liked better than the "real" Archie series even as a teenager. Maybe Richard liked them better too, since those aren't in such good shape.
Oh yeah, we also have a whole bunch of Josie and the Pussiecats (Richard, what were you THINKING?).
