I always kinda thought it would be fun to skydive, but never actually intended to DO anything about it. But the guy in the next cube was trying to get up a group to tandem-jump and I got swept up in the enthusiasm. We're going out THIS SUNDAY (weather permitting). Barely enough time to work up a good case of nervous exhaustion. We're going to this place..

[livejournal.com profile] carbonel, is this the same place you went to?

Yikes! Indeed

From what I gather, the trick is learning how to land; collapse your feet and legs as you hit earth. I'm sure they'll go through this.

It can't be all that hard. Remember, Jimi Hendrix had more than 50 parachute drops.

And only one Top 40 hit; that makes him, technically, a one-hit wonder. (In music, of course; I'd guess that being a one-hit wonder in skydiving is a bad thing.)

Actually, when you're tandem jumping the secret is to lift your legs off the ground and let your jump partner do all the work. (I've been looking at Rod's video - he's done this once before).

Yep, that's the place. It's pretty much the only skydiving place convenient to the Twin Cities, which is presumably why it has the misleading name.

I hope you have a great time!

That sounds totally cool. I look forward to hearing what it's like.

I've kinda thought of going bungee jumping sometime, but I think I'd be too scared.

Remember, the journey of a thousand feet begins with a single step. :)

*heh* I think I'll say that as I step out of the plane. It's more appropriate than "The eagle has landed."

Wow. To use a common phrase... "Wicked cool, man!" I would love to do this some time. I probably never will though. Please do share what it's like. I've heard from others who said it was very empowering!
