Perking up

The weekend was pretty dismal in the aftermath of shocking layoffs. I didn't go out except for a very pleasant Dim Sum at Yummi's to celebrate [livejournal.com profile] eileenlufkin's birthday. I updated my resume, set up new tracking files for job hunting, and checked to see if the companies I was interested in last time round were still out there. The only other thing I accomplished was making a lanyard or two for my new Ipod with some parts I got off the Net.

Monday - not much better. Biking to work was a chore, partly because the promised "beautiful weather" did not materialize, but mostly because I was depressed and didn't feel especially motivated to get to work. Workday wasn't terrible, but everybody was unhappy. I got involved in a conversation and suddenly it was almost 7pm, and I wanted to be home by 8pm for Heroes. Yikes! I zoomed out the door and put my "Fast Movin' Music" playlist on the iPod. Unexpectedly, my spirits soared and the ride home was fun, despite the fact that the weather was exactly the same dull grey 62 degrees it has been in the morning. It pretty much got dark while I was on the way, but I made it home in just a hair over an hour (almost record time), missing only the first 5 minutes of the show.

Today... things feel sort of normal again. So I guess that's how long it takes to recover from mild social trauma - 3 days.

We got the msg from [livejournal.com profile] mgs but he didn't say it was for a birthday! And we bailed on it because we had brunch with the soon-to-move-out-of-state [livejournal.com profile] lee_os and [livejournal.com profile] honeythistle. I am sorry to have missed celebrating with [livejournal.com profile] eileenlufkin!

Glad you're perking up, though.

K.

I'm sorry about the layoffs mom! I know how much you liked the job. Why don't you quit, come out to San Jose, and help keep the Network running at the school I'm working at? (we've been having problems)

Good luck finding a new job!

I'm not really looking for a new job now, just preparing for the inevitable. It's probably a little premature to be using the past tense. But still...
