Shifting gears for winter
Nov. 21st, 2007 06:38 pmOnce again, I'm starting to regain lost weight now that the biking season is over and the weather is too dismal to do anything outdoors. I really enjoyed skating last year, but the outdoor rinks didn't open until mid-January because of the inconsistent temperature. I'm going to try indoor rinks this winter, starting now. If I can force myself out the door into the November chill I'm going down to The Depot for the skating rink opening day. Despite the inordinate cost ($8 admission!). It's the only indoor rink open on a Wednesday night.
When does the downtown traffic clear up? I'm thinking maybe 7? (The rink is purportedly open until 9).

Date: 2007-11-22 05:35 am (UTC)I did indeed go skating. Got down there about 7:30 and there wasn't much traffic. The ice was pretty crowded, although the crowd thinned out considerably over the next hour as the younger teens went home.

Date: 2007-11-22 07:32 am (UTC)(In our last episode, my new skates caused incredible shin splints within seconds of putting them on and skating in them. Maybe try skating with my old ones [1/2 size too small now] or in whatever they have for rental skates?)
