Yes, I finally went skiing

I go to the Hiawatha Golf Course because it is close, and because once you ski away from the park building for about 10 minutes you do kinda feel like you're out in the country. Sort of boring country, scenery wise, but you can't see any roads or hear the traffic. I listened to <a href="http://<user site="livejournal.com" user="pantha-kjeet">">cakmpls</a> compilation of drinking songs, most of which fall into the category of "Drinking Followed by Bad Behavior," a particularly amusing combination with such a pure and healthful activity as cross country skiing.
The park building wasn't open, but they had made one desultory pass with the big cylinder to create a sort of a trail ("groomed" would be putting it a little too strongly, but better than nothing.) Unfortunately, most of the skiiers that had been out there already were of the ski-skating variety, and they had not been careful about keeping off the straight ski tracks on the right side of the path *sigh*. This made for slow going with very little glide. In retrospect I wish I HAD worn my old waxful skis, which are better for breaking trail and have a bit more glide on this type of snow.
I stayed out for 50 minutes, although I doubt I covered more than 2 miles. I was really not moving fast. I didn't fall down, though.
