I did make it to the rink and skated for 40-50 minutes, which was plenty after doing the same thing yesterday. My legs and lower back were more tired that I realized, but I still felt I was making progress at the three things I was working on: straight glides with one foot raised just off the ice, two-foot wiggles with a narrower radius than I usually use, and backwards skating (in short stretches due to the prevalence of out-of-control little kids rolling around underfoot).

Open skating is a pretty similar experience at the two rinks, but I think I liked Bloomington slightly better. Neither rink is particularly crowded on Sunday afternoon, but the Bloomington rink had a higher percentage of skaters (kids, mostly) who actually knew what they were doing, including some tween-size girls practicing figure skating (always fun to watch). StLP seemed to be mostly pint-size kids in hockey helmets pushing chairs and ice-walkers or rolling around on the ice like big caterpillars. On the other hand, StLP is closer. Despite the distinct lack of ambience, either of them is better for skating than the overcrowded Historic Depot.
