By process of elimination I've deduced that the reason my computer keeps hanging and crashing is Foxfire. That's bad because I use Foxfire all the time, and there is rarely a moment it isn't open on my desktop (except when I'm experimentally trying to figure out which app is causing the havoc, of course).

On the other hand, it's a lot easier to reinstall Foxfire than reinstall the operating system.

Does anybody actually know the best way to go about reinstalling a browser without losing all your bookmarks?

You mean Firefox, right? Anyhow, an easy thing to do is to explicitly export your bookmarks to a file somewhere, then import them if the reinstall overwrites them. I'm guessing the reinstall won't, but it's good to have a back up. I just used this method to transfer my bookmarks onto my laptop.

Oh, right, I meant Firefox. I just exported the bookmarks. I'm going to try simply installing the latest version without explictly deleting the old one and see if that stops the crashing. If that doesn't work I'll delete Firefox and start over from scratch.
