Although I'm rooting for Obama at this point, I'm pleased to see that Clinton isn't out of the race yet. If nothing else, it confuses the Republicans, who must be wondering right about now exactly who they should be trying to smear. *heh* Let 'em stew, I say.

I'm also pleased to see McCain make a comeback. I've been convinced for a while now that he's going to be the candidate because all the other Republican contenders are so... ridiculous. McCain is obviously the best chance they have of retaining the White House. Since I want a Democrat to win, I guess I should be rooting against McCain. But I'd rather see two worthy candidates on the ticket in the fall, even if it means that the one I don't like is the one that wins. The very idea of a thug like Guiliani getting that close to the presidency is too frightening, even though I think his chances of actually winning would be very small. I want there to be zero chance of ending up with another president that endorses and supports torture. Also, you've just gotta love a presidential candidate that goes to Iowa and speaks against corn-ethanol subsidies. Sometimes the inability to campaign effectively is more endearing than indictment.

And on that note, I think that Romney is a total sleazeball in the Norm "say anything to get elected" Coleman mold. It's very satisfying to see him hit the deck in a state that's right in his home neighborhood. I don't think he'll be around much longer, frankly. Even though he's pandering as fast as he can, nobody's buying what he's selling. Well, almost nobody. It was amusing to hear his attempt to spin this definitive loss as "2 Silvers and a Gold." The Gold, in case you weren't paying attention, was Wyoming. Apparently they were having a primary tonight too, and Romney won. Whoopie ding.

Recent study shows, by the way, that switchgrass can achieve a 5.5-1 ratio of energy produced against energy used in making biofuel!

Down with corn fuel!

Up with corn on the cob!

Yeah, I think McCain's correct on that issue, but that's kind of a minor point. What I found endearing was that he was actually willing to stand up and SAY that while campaigning in a state that practically worships corn. He also refused to reframe his position on immigration to match the consensus opinion in Iowa. And he lost, resoundingly but with integrity.

I don't think McCain has a chance of actually winning, should he get the nomination. There have just been too many times when it seemed he was overmedicated or off his meds and acting, just, well... wacky. We can't afford that in our highest office. And you know is opponent will just have to show some of those clips. Then show him and his support for the war and they way he's going about supporting it.

I don't think any of the GOP candidates can beat the top Dems in the end run. Which I consider to be excellent news.

Of course, until the ballots are counted... ;->

I hope I am too! ;-> I've been wrong in the past when I thought surely this country wouldn't allow this f-nut a second term.
