Well, that was fun!
Jan. 8th, 2008 10:58 pmAlthough I'm rooting for Obama at this point, I'm pleased to see that Clinton isn't out of the race yet. If nothing else, it confuses the Republicans, who must be wondering right about now exactly who they should be trying to smear. *heh* Let 'em stew, I say.
I'm also pleased to see McCain make a comeback. I've been convinced for a while now that he's going to be the candidate because all the other Republican contenders are so... ridiculous. McCain is obviously the best chance they have of retaining the White House. Since I want a Democrat to win, I guess I should be rooting against McCain. But I'd rather see two worthy candidates on the ticket in the fall, even if it means that the one I don't like is the one that wins. The very idea of a thug like Guiliani getting that close to the presidency is too frightening, even though I think his chances of actually winning would be very small. I want there to be zero chance of ending up with another president that endorses and supports torture. Also, you've just gotta love a presidential candidate that goes to Iowa and speaks against corn-ethanol subsidies. Sometimes the inability to campaign effectively is more endearing than indictment.
And on that note, I think that Romney is a total sleazeball in the Norm "say anything to get elected" Coleman mold. It's very satisfying to see him hit the deck in a state that's right in his home neighborhood. I don't think he'll be around much longer, frankly. Even though he's pandering as fast as he can, nobody's buying what he's selling. Well, almost nobody. It was amusing to hear his attempt to spin this definitive loss as "2 Silvers and a Gold." The Gold, in case you weren't paying attention, was Wyoming. Apparently they were having a primary tonight too, and Romney won. Whoopie ding.

Date: 2008-01-09 02:56 pm (UTC)I don't think any of the GOP candidates can beat the top Dems in the end run. Which I consider to be excellent news.
Of course, until the ballots are counted... ;->
