I can't remember how to use this feature

I can't figure out how to use tags to look at old entries. Specifically, I want to bring up all the entries tagged "weather" to see what time the ice went out last year. Can anybody tell me how to do this?

But remember that LJ has (I think) a limit of 50 uses of a tag. The older entries tagged with that tag cease to show up when you have more than 50.

I had no idea! That certainly limits the usefulness of tags, doesn't it. :-(

Hmm. Well, yes, that does seem to work. But surely there is a way to get to the tags page from the *bleeping* user interface? I've done it in the past, but can't figure out how.

When I look at my Profile page, one of the selections available is "Journal" and if I hover on that, a menu appears with "Manage Tags" as a selection. That page has an interface that lets me pick tags and then view the entries that have them.

I notice how cautiously you phrase this, as if it's only barely possible that what works for you would work for anybody else. Alas, in the world of LJ, that is so true. I don't seem to have the word "Journal" anywhere on my Profile page. Anyway, I don't see it. :-(

Many of the styles you can use for your journal will list all the tags you've used in the sidebar so you can click on each to see stuff in that category-- that might be what you're thinking of (unless you've only ever used this style . . .).

http://dreamshark.livejournal.com/tag/ is where you'll find your tags. And to manage them, from the front page of Livejournal, go to "Journal" and in the drop down menu there is "Manage Tags".

I think you're right. At one time, my home page had a line of menu options along the top, one of which may have been Journal. However, my home page format spontaneously changed itself a while ago (which it does periodically, for reasons I don't understand) and I no longer have anything like that on my front page.

I guess that leaves me two obvious choices - try to figure out how to modify the format of my home page, or use the URL. Dealing with LJ formats seems like way too much work right now, especially after spending the last week fighting my way through the new format and endless errors on my domain hosting site. So I think I'll just use the URL you guys helpfully provided for me. Thanks.
