I saw two shows today and realized I was done. Richard, however, wasn't ready to quit yet so I left him at the Jeune Lune and biked home the long way. The very long way, down to Loring Park, over the pedestrian bridge and into the maze of commuter trails behind the Walker, eventually making a big loop to the west and back in on the Midtown Greenway.

My War: From Bismarck to Britain and Back * * * *
presented by Klatch Productions -
Memories of WWII from a Red Cross volunteer stationed in England and France and her mother, enduring rationing and shortages back home in North Dakota while waiting for her sons and daughter to come home from the war. Having just been to a family reunion where we spent a lot of time looking through old family pictures and letters, I found it very affecting. The Red Cross volunteer reminded me of my mother (who joined the Waves).

small aida ? ? ?
presented by Penelope Freeh
Two very skillful female dancers do their interpretation of the love triangle from the opera Aida. I didn't get it. I know nothing about the opera, and was hoping that the basics of the plot would be covered in the program, but this was not the case. I have no idea what story they were trying to tell, and never even figured out why there weren't THREE dancers if they were supposed to be enacting a love triangle. I disliked pretty much everything about this show, but most of the audience was ecstatic, giving them 75% of a standing ovation. The opera/dance fan crossover community must be larger than I ever imagined.
