... you can sign up for periodic email updates from the Secretary of State's office. Here's Recount Update #4. I can see why Ritchie liked the Time article - it's very laudatory (about Minnesota, anyway. It's a little hard on the state of Florida.)

Dear Friends,

We are nearing the end of the amazing recount here in Minnesota - an event that included thousands of citizens in the process.  It has been exciting to see Minnesotans pitch in to make this such a big success.  Some have even seen the humor in it all, such as Time Magazine.  Check out their wonderful piece "Still Counting in Minnesota".

The University of Minnesota recently held a public discussion on "The Minnesota Tradition of Fair Elections" that looked at our 1962 statewide recount of the Governor's race and our 2008 Senate recount.  For highlights click here.

I don't remember. I'm pretty sure I went to some official site and clicked on a button to send me email updates, but the details are hazy.

That cracked me up. I don't think there was an actual necessity to refer to Florida as a "hick state," though.
