New beginnings
Jan. 20th, 2005 01:34 pmWork had gotten so stressful that I just had no energy leftover for LJ - either posting or keeping up with reading. I hope I've taken care of that for a while. Quit my job last week, with no other job prospects. I just couldn't take it any more. Got a hot jobtip last Friday (from two sources) and submitted my resume. As I was cleaning out my desk on Monday, my last day at old job, I got a call from HR wanting to schedule me for an interview at the new place. Interviewed on Tuesday, got a verbal job offer on Wednesday. Sweet. It's not usually so smooth.
I had gotten myself all revved up to escape my string of rebound romances with smallish local companies and focus on CONTRACTING. I just wanted to go someplace where they would tell me exactly what they wanted me to do, I'd do it, and they'd pay me. No commitments, no emotional investment, no concerns with intersite office politics. Then along comes the first job offer, and once again I'm swept off my feet. This time it will be different! Sure, this once-local company now reports to a California headquarters, but this time they WON'T close down the local office!
