Last year I bought a complete new cross-country ski kit: skis, boots, bindings, poles. In March. Usually there is a lot of snow in March, but not last year. I got to use them exactly once; after that the only thing that fell from the sky was slush. So I've been fretting impatiently this year at the lack of snow, wanting to use my new skis. FINALLY we got a big, beautiful snowfall. I went out to the garage and retrieved my skis. And have spent the past 2 hours searching for the boots. They weren't with the skis, aren't on the porch, aren't in any of the closets, aren't under any furniture. I don't know what to do. I have looked every place they could possibly be. Twice. Three times. Moved furniture, packed away piles of coats. The only thing I can think of is that they were left on the porch (the last place I remember seeing them) and somebody stole them for some reason. But why would anybody steal ski boots without the skis??? I understand moon boots are popular again - could some teenager have mistaken them for moon boots? What should I do now? Buy another pair or give up on the belated ski season until (if) the boots turn up. This week might be the only week all winter when I can ski!
