Or possibly three daddies. Who can tell with geese? In any case, one of the little families of fuzzy dinosaur-shaped goslings has three adults taking care of them. Other goose familes in the area are more conventional.

This has been a work-break bike ride report.

Itinerary: Dean Lakes nature trails, east to the Southbridge Parkway collection of residential cul-de-sacs and back

The weather report looks surprisingly benign, so we decided to plan a spontaneous one-night getaway to Historic Lanesboro, a little town on the Root River Trail that has pretty much turned itself into one giant Bed and Breakfast. It's done a good job. Booking a room in one of the impossibly quaint B&Bs on a weekend requires a month or two of lead time. But there's lots of rooms available on Sunday night, frequently at weekday rates. The weather has been awfully unpredictable lately, but we're betting that with less than 24 hours for the weather pattern to reverse itself, we can count on a nice day tomorrow. I just booked a room in the Scanlan House. So here's crossing fingers for two days of pleasant weather.

No sooner did I commit to a bike trip tomorrow than all hell broke loose in the weather department. Tornado warnings, thunder, lightning, hail, and so forth.

But tomorrow is still supposed to be sunny and warm. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
