I was going to try to organize something, but the weather looks so chancy that it's hard to plan ahead. Basically, I live practically next to the back door of the most beautiful cemetery in the state (Lakewood). On Memorial Day weekend the back gates are wide open and visitors are encouraged. There are programs and activities and the magnificent chapel is open for tours until 5pm. So I usually bike over there more than once. This year I may take one walking trip as well, since I'm trying to build up my pathetic walking skills for an upcoming trip. I'd love some company. So if anybody has a time or day they'd like to join me, post here and we can go graveyard tripping together.
I'm also open to visiting other cemeteries. I'm a graveyard fan. I find them peaceful and beautiful, not morbid. I'd like to check out that little Jewish cemetery at 42nd St. and 4th Avenue too, although I don't know for sure if it's open.
Anyhoo - I think I'll head out for my first trip at about 1pm. The weather sites seem to think that the weather will be at a peak of niceness then - 68 degrees and probably not raining. Anyone want to come along?
