I noticed that my glasses were fogging up a lot more than they used to when I wore a mask. Then i remembered the old trick for defogging snorkel masks: baby shampoo. According to Cap'n Phil (snorkel guru) that works better than those commercial de-fogging products. And it did, at least for snorkeling.
So I went out for a walk, starting with uphill, without washing glasses and they fogged up so bad i had to take the mask off for the rest of the walk. That was the control trial. Came home and washed them thoroughly with shampoo then tried the same walk again with the same mask. MUCH MUCH better! I still had a little fog due to mouth-breathing at times, but it only fogged a little bit and quickly cleared up.
So give it a try. Or if you have snorkel gear lying around, try some mask defogger. I probably have some somewhere, but shampoo was easier to find. It doesn't have to be baby shampoo. The point of that was not to irritate the eyes when used inside of a closed snorkel mask. Any shampoo should work as an open-air defogger.
