Calling all gardeners and botany geeks

Anyone know what this is? Richard and I dug it out of the yard in Portland on the suspicion that it was some variety of nightshade.

And while we’re at it, what is this?

Whatever it is, it seems to be catnip for bees. Milwaukie, the Portland suburb where the family actually lives, seems to have a robust population of honeybees, unlike South Minneapolis. Maybe if everybody had this stuff in their yard it would help?
