This is my third attempt to get a wireless router/access point working in my home (actually the fourth if you count the old stuff I bought at a garage sale). This one seems to have done the trick - we now have wireless all over the house !

Be sure to use WPA or WPA2 encryption!

Okay, please tell me exactly why you think it is necessary to secure a home wireless network. Many people choose not to do so for the convenience of their laptop-toting guests (including a well-known Internet security guru of our acquaintance). There are different philosophies on this; it's not just a matter of inattention.

So far I have not secured the network, although I have of course changed the password on the WAP. I'm considering the issue.

Oh, boy, do I ever empathize with those multiple attempts. However, thanks to J's ongoing efforts, we also have wireless.
