Giving stuff away

Did anybody else see the article in today's Strib about Bridging? It's a local organization that gives away furniture and household items to people in need. It sounds like a very worthwhile organization with an inspiring founder story (one man makes a difference). It also sounds like a good opportunity to get rid of some more of that "too good to throw away" excess stuff cluttering up the attic, basement and upstairs of the garage. Anybody want to join me in a donation trip to this place?

I have heard of them before, but am clean out of that sort of give away. I'd be happy to drive our station wagon filled with other people's stuff, though.

I'm thinking more of smaller items - lamps, extra bedding, kitchen gear. Most of our larger furniture is too shabby. There is one full-size couch in the basement that, last time I looked at it, didn't have anything wrong with it except that it was butt-ugly, but that's still only one large item. Anyway, I'm a little curious to see their operation.

Thanks for pointing this out. Ordinarily I take smaller stuff to Value Village, but at Bridging it goes to people who need it for free, which I like. I see they take toys, and I know I can come up with those. I'll sure keep it in mind any time we get rid of decent (i.e., non-cat-shredded) furniture. I'm not ready now to make a trip, but I'll let you know when I am in case you haven't gone yet.
