This is an example of how our possessions shape our lives, just by being there. In a fun way, though.

After we purchased a new state of the art TV/DVD/VCR setup, we had a small LCD TV left over. It's not that old, but hopelessly deficient by modern standards - no digital tuner and only medium-high screen resolution. I set it up in the living room with a spare DVD player, just because it had to be someplace. Richard and I started trying to come up with something to do with the USB port on the player, and Richard wondered if it could be used to show a continuous slide-show of game boxes. Since this was a project that involved no fewer than FIVE electronic gadgets PLUS that keen tripod I got last summer at a yard sale, it was irresistible.

So, to make a long story interminable, we set up the digital camera on a tripod, cabled it to my new Acer mini-laptop and inserted a thumb-drive into the USB port on the laptop. This allowed games to be photographed and transferred to the thumb drive, which can indeed be used to generate an endless slideshow on the little TV. Just the thing for background visuals during the Friday game parties. As a bonus, Richard finally overcame his technophobia sufficiently to learn how to put the camera into macro mode, disable the flash, and take pictures. And now more of our stuff gets to talk to each other.

Oh; too bad I didn't realize while I was there last night - I never stopped to take a look!
