World's Best Salad
May. 7th, 2009 11:44 amThe world's best salad starts at Kowalski's olive bar with a little tub of sweet-hot piquante peppers mixed with those little brown olives with cubes of feta cheese. Put a big pile of baby spinach in one of the large covered plastic dishes that my local Chinese takeout place uses for General Tso's chicken. Top with pieces of roast chicken breast, finely sliced green onions, and a couple of heaping spoonfuls of leftover cooked vegies (something with yams or potatoes in it is best). Ladle on about a quarter cup of the olive bar mixture, including at least a tablespoonful of the juices, which is all the dressing the salad needs. If you're a complete Philistine like me, you can now corrupt this spectacular gourmet salad with a sprinkle of Bacos. Alternatively (or additionally) - nuts, sunflower seeds, or seasoned croutons. Stir it up to distribute the ingredients (or put the lid back on and shake vigorously if you're using the Chinese takeout container).
Mmmmm. This is SO good!
You can tell it's spring because I start craving salad. I don't much care for salad in the winter (or ice cream, for that matter. It's not that I eat healthier in the summer, just differently). Do other people have tastes in food that change radically with the seasons?
thorintatge thinks it is most peculiar.

I wish I'd rememebred to bring dinner tonight. ah well. Maybe I'll stop by a Kowalski's on the way home...
