First entry for a couple of months, I think. Got really busy at work, which is where I've been doing LJ stuff. A little calmer now.

Rode my bike to work today! I've been building up to that for 3 months, riding around Lake Harriet day after day, hoping to get stronger. When I finally graduated to two lakes, and it seemed no harder than one used to, I figured I was ready. Mendota Heights isn't as far away from south Mpls as one might think: about 11.5 miles, but more hills than I'm used to. Getting across the river is the big excitement. You start riding downriver from Minnehaha Falls, going down and down and down into a long green tunnel of foliage. Really, I had no idea where I was going to end up, and once you're in the Long Green Tunnel there are no exits. Finally, just as I was about to despair, I came to a parking lot and kiosk and a very steep road leading up again. I went past a picturesque old stone tower (walking my bike, I must confess), made a sharp left, and there was the Mendota Bridge! Yay!

Just my luck that Qwest chose today to block off the bike/pedestrian path to rip up random metal trapdoors and fiddle with the cables inside.

This sounds adventurous! I'm glad to hear you're getting some outdoor activity into your busy schedule. I love this clear, cool weather.
