This sucks. I've been trying to successfully complete an installation of this particular product configuration every Friday for the past month, and I still can't get it to work. Sometimes it's my fault, sometimes it's obvious bugs, and sometimes... I just don't know what's wrong. I get a little closer each time. I'm up to the last 3 steps. But a crucial interface WILL NOT come up. I don't know if somebody changed the cabling or if there's a bug. I never intended it to get this late - I just kept trying one more thing, and now I'm running tests on the almost-finished system.

I'm having a harder and harder time believing in this product.

At least you missed the gamers, she says helpfully.

Too bad you missed Greta and Rich and Don Bailey, who all came to the games. (And I would have liked to say hello, too.)

What is this product that's giving you such headaches? What is it supposed to do?

Oh, it's not important. All the products I work on are like this. It's an overly ambitious pile of software that runs simultaneously on a cluster of Linux hosts and makes them act like one big computer. It's typical geek-to-geek software: invented by geeks for other geeks.
