I'm looking for recommendations. I'm looking for free games that are cute and dumb and easy for people to try when they are looking at my iTouch. My current faves in that category are Labyrinth (the one where you roll a steel ball around in a maze), Paper Toss (tossing balled up paper into a wastebasket while you sit around the office waiting for your pink slip) and Sheep Launcher (just what it sounds like).

Even better are things that are too simple to be called games - like the Zippo lighter, or pretty fish swimming around or bubbles you can pop. Think pretty, pointless and free.

Any ideas, people?

I don't know if it's free, but my mother was touting the joys of Toast. It's definitely in the "too simple to be called games" category -- you select your bread type, toast it, spread stuff on it, and eat it.

*heh* If that's all there is to it, it better be free. I'll check it out - thanks!

I talked to my mom; she says it's actually called "Make Toast."

I couldn't find it on the iTunes store. Perhaps it has been discontinued.

Look for "More Toast!" I don't know if that's the upgrade, or if my mom misremembered the name, but that's the one I find.

However, it's $.99, so you may not want to shell out for it.

"Lightsaber Unleashed" - uses the acceleration sensors, so it makes whoom-whoom noises when you swing it around, and kzzt when you stop suddenly (as if you hit someone else's lightsaber). Be sure you have a good grip on the iPod, though!

I downloaded that one - it's cute. Thanks.

I like the free versions of the complete works of Shakespeare, the U.S. Constitution, and Declaration of Independence that I have on my iPhone. Not as flashy as some of the silly things out there, but darned cool to have on hand for reference.

I also think the Stanza e-book reader and Amazon Kindle app are neat. A lot of free books available through those, and more to come now that Google is releasing a million-plus books in the epub format.

I did download Stanza but haven't figured out how to get free stuff for it. Is that what you use for reading things like the Constitution (which is, I agree, a great thing to have in your pocket)?

Labyrinth! That's it. That looked truly addictive.
