Dream Park hosts the Minnstf Halloween Party/meeting every year, but only once in a blue moon does the Halloween meeting actually fall on Halloween. It should be fun. We live in a great Halloween neighborhood - lots of decorated houses, zillions of trick or treaters, neighbors visiting in the streets as they keep an eye on their offspring - it's all very jolly.

Right at this moment I am making a seasonal compilation of Halloween songs to play at the party. People are always doing these for Christmas, but really you can do it for any holiday. There are more Halloween songs that you realize, especially if your collection tilts towards the slightly morbid. I came up with so many that it's now a 2-CD set.

Richard's done all the rest of the work of getting ready, except that I did help with the mega shopping trip last night. We've got lots and lots of goodies.
Y'all come now!

What's the (semi-)official start time? Is it worth cruising the neighborhood for lights, or should we wait until after dark?

If you count songs about zombies and werewolves and such, yes, there are a lot of Halloween songs. Not even counting "When The Saints Go Marching In".

The official start time is 3pm. Oh, you definitely want to wait until the crowds are out before wandering the neighborhood. It's not just lights - it's the performance art. Last year's highlight was the zombie house over on Blaisdell. It looks like they're gearing up to do it again this year.

I hadn't thought about that one. Although I did include a few songs that might not occur to other people, such as the Grateful Dead's "Dire Wolf." And the spookiest monsters in the wood song of them all - "Teddy Bear's Picnic."

If you want to throw together a Halloween themed collection, bring it along and we'll play it at the party. (We don't seem to have a copy of "Monster Mash" - hint hint).

Happy Anniversary!

I'm sorry I can't be there, but I'm probably still contagious and expect everyone will be better off if I stay home. Sigh.
