I just can't get over how much fun egg molds are. I've been wanting that Mickey Mouse mold for a while now - finally remembered to buy jumbo eggs so I could use it (it's huge, as egg molds go). Even with the jumbo egg, there wasn't quite enough egg in the nose area to give it that full 3D look, so I touched it up with food coloring. One large drop of food coloring in a saucer, applied with a small brush, and voila! It was kind of hard to eat though. It takes a hard heart to start cutting pieces off Mickey Mouse.

Bento #37 - mar 9, 2010. Mickey Mouse Salad Bento #37 - mar 9, 2010. Mickey Mouse Salad

Molded jumbo egg painted with blue food coloring. The rest of the salad is pretty much what it looks like: butter lettuce, tomato, avocado, chicken breast, leftover cold vegies, black olives, sprinkle of sesame seeds and walnuts on top. Dressing in the bear.

Eggselent! It seems a shame to eat it!

Wow!

I clicked through twice to see Mickey and the rest of Bento #37 as large as large could be. It's fabulous. Looks delish, too.

If your workplace ever has one of those auctions for charity things where you donate an item or service to be auctioned off, you could donate one or more Bentos. You could also lead a fab Bento workshop at Minicon.

With your photos, there's also a fine feature article in the STrib or a food/healthy eating magazine.

Seriously. Your Bentos just keep getting better and better.

Thanks! Compared to some of the really elaborate bentos you'll find posted in various "bento galleries" they really don't seem like much, so it's nice to hear.

Once again Sharon, I enjoyed the bento photo. And I'm taking more care when putting my lunch together making sure there are vegetables and fruits and bits of interesting things. Still not beautiful, but a lot better for me. I have to get an egg mold and dressing containers .Looks like fun. I've done up a little chart to post on the fridge to count veg, fruit, fish, bean, whole grain servings per day. Still not up to speed, but it's helping.

I'm so glad I've been able to inspire you! I am finding that paying attention to the esthetics makes my lunch healthier as well as more fun.
