It's funny how a slight tweak to the name of the collection results in a completely different set of songs. I seem to have tons and tons of songs about traveling from one point of view or another. For instance, I have a theme CD called "I'm In Love With My Car," which so far has no overlap with "Road Trip." I had another playlist I was calling "Traveling On," but that turned out to have very little to do with road trips as such. Probably the best way to illustrate the distinction is that I just broke that one into two separate playlists: "Rambling" and "So Long, Babe" (and both of the new playlists are still too long to fit on a single CD. Which tells you something about the general themes in my music collection.)

I have 17 CDs that I made for myself for playing in my car. They are not about travel, but for listening to as I drive. I almost went that route (if you'll pardon the expression), but went with Goin' Places, where each song (mostly) has a mode of transportation and a destination.
I was a little burnt out listening to music after Marscon. Divers medical tests will do that. The Dregs concert last night got me back in the mood, so I'll start in on the new CDs soon, which include several CD Exchanges.

Date: 2010-03-21 10:54 pm (UTC)Currently I've got 25 songs in the playlist, which is at least 4 songs too many for a CD, even if I leave off songs I originally got from you (i.e., Borneo). If I can't find some way to enhance the volume I'll have to drop "Me and Bobby McGee," which is a shame. And "Big Rock Candy Mountain," much as I like it, isn't really about car travel. But I threw the first 25 together so quickly, I'm sure a few more will occur to me.
