I'm finally doing what I've been threatening to do for years - using a week of my vacation for Spring Homeowner's Leave (since my company isn't enlightened enough to offer this as a benefit to all homeowners). The idea is to catch up on all those seasonal transitional chores, get a head start on the summer projects, and just do a bunch of other procrastinated stuff that has nothing to do with the seasons - like suffering through the phone call with Qwest to get my DSL upgraded.

Here's what I hope to accomplish outdoors:
- get the infrastructure in place for a spice garden - buy plants if the garden stores have them out.

- have a barbeque, and invite my closest neighbors (the one next door, the two across the alley, and the two across Pillsbury).
This one is kind of a complicated goal because: the yard is a mess, the picnic tables that we painted two years ago have peeled off because we did it wrong and look terrible, and we don't have enough lawn furniture. Oh, and we don't have a barbeque. So there are enough sub-projects involved in this one to pretty much fill the week.

- however, I also plan to START my summer-long goal of Having a Garage Sale. This is a huge deal because it involves cleaning the garage, which is the size of a small house but currently so full of junk that we can't get even one car into it. I'm not delusional enough to think I can get this all done in 4 days, but I'm going to make a start.

- possibly paint a few storm windows, maybe get a start on painting the trim on the new front steps we had put in last year.

The outdoors goals started with routing Richard out of bed before noon so we could go shopping. Since he actually got up, I was nice enough to make him some coffee and leave him alone to read the paper.

I'm now going to make a doctor's appointment before I go downstairs and start the shopping trip.
