Having finally gotten tired of talking about my lunch, I thought I'd talk about my garage for a while. My plan for the summer is to clean it.

This is The Garage
This is an old picture, but the size and shape hasn't changed since this was taken in 1997. As you can see, this thing is the size of a small house. And yet... we don't have enough free space inside it right now for one car. |

This is where the car would go if there were only room
And after 3 weekends of hard work there almost WAS room until Richard moved that pile of timbers in. Supposedly they are going back out again soon to build raised garden beds. Similarly, now that I have a working table saw again I'm going to fix those broken pieces of picnic furniture and get them out too. And then I start working my way back to the old wood stove at the back and get rid of it. The light show stays, however (all the black stuff with squiggles all over it). |

Workbench, nearly excavated
The east half of the garage is supposed to be a workshop. This may not look like the cleanest workbench in the world, but you should have seen it when I started! |
 |
Looking in from the side door
The workshop area is off to the right. That large table is the remains of a no-longer functional table saw. I think I'll take the motor off the back and keep the table, which is impressively solid. The box next to it contains a new table saw that has now been unpacked and assembled. It looks like a Fisher-Price toy next to that old Craftsman... but it works! |

What Waits in the Attic
This is what's up the stairs at the left side of the previous picture. Yes, this garage has a full attic - and I do mean FULL. The ultimate plan is to clean this out too, so some of the excess light show equipment downstairs can be moved up here.
This is my favorite picture, but it looks much better at full size. Click and click again if you're interested. |
