Saw two very good movies this weekend, one in the theater and other via Netflix:

Toy Story 3 totally deserves the rave reviews it's been getting. I'm pretty sure it's the best of the three, although my memory of the first 2 is a little hazy. Kudos to Pixar for almost single-handedly defeating the idea that nobody over the age of 6 could enjoy a G-rated movie.

I somehow acquired the soundtrack to Rent in my iTunes library and I wanted to see the musical so I would have some idea what the songs are talking about. I enjoyed it enough to watch it a second time with Richard, and he liked it too. I enjoyed the singing and exuberant dancing, but also found the story and characters surprisingly affecting. Richard says it reminds him of his art school days, only without the AIDS. Oh, really? I guess MCAD in the 1960's was a little more exciting than I gave it credit for.

Hayao Miyazaki and the Japanese film industry would like a word with you.
