Coffee pot follow-up

Thanks to all who offered suggestions on where to buy a coffee pot. Starting with the closest place, I checked Ace Hardware, which had exactly one coffee maker that wasn't at all what I wanted. No time lost there, however, since I was in there anyway leaving a window to be reglazed.

barondave's suggestion: K-mart. Bingo. Not only did they have a wide range of name brand coffee makers they even had a few replacement carafes, including the universal 4-cupper I found online. If I hadn't read bad reviews of that carafe I might have bought one, but instead I decided to upgrade to a programmable unit. I settled on a 5-cup Kenmore. I like it so far. The controls are easy to use and it makes coffee. I even set the time and programmed it to start automatically 3 minutes in the future, and it did just that. Cool. It also looks much nicer than the old one (white is an impractical color for a coffee maker, as it stains). But mostly, the carafe isn't cracked.
While I was there I also bought a better iron, since the little cheap one I have doesn't really get hot enough for ironing cotton. When I tried it out it did a great job on cotton, but I decided I liked the little one better for ironing silk and rayon. So I guess I'll keep them both.
However, I do now have an extra 4-cup Mr. Coffee that works just fine except that the carafe is cracked (but still usable). I even washed it. If anybody wants it, you can have it for free.
