Richard is doing just fine. He got the breathing tube out this morning, will probably transfer from the ICU to a regular ward tomorrow morning. He's uncomfortable and groggy, but all his vital signs are excellent. I notice that he's a nice pink color, not that pasty white you sometimes see in ICU patients, so I guess that the new arteries are working well. He'll probably be getting out of the hospital on Wednesday or Thursday. It's possible that he might like a visitor or two during the final couple of days in the hospital, but certainly not now. (These days they generally turn you out of the hospital immediately if you start looking alert enough to entertain visitors).
However, for those of you who want to do something, I think he would just love to get cards. When he was in the hospital with that head injury so many years ago he was very touched to get cards in the hospital. He likes funny or artistically interesting cards best, but just knowing people are thinking of him would make him happy. If you want to send a card, just send it to Richard Tatge (patient), c/o Methodist Hospital, 6500 Excelsior Blvd. , St. Louis Park, MN 55426.

Date: 2011-06-26 02:25 pm (UTC)Your trip looks wonderful, btw. We passed through that area many years ago (before either of our chldren was born, of that gives you some idea just how long ago) and it is amazingly beautiful. We also spent a few days in VERY small town Utah (Myton) waiting for a head-gasket for our exhausted Volvo to be sent up on the bus from Salt Lake. Ask me about it sometime.
