Richard is recovering well now, and will probably be home sometime this week. He's now well enough to get bored and want to come home, but he still has a few milestones to reach first (primarily getting weaned from that little oxygen tank he's wheeling around). But he's starting to worry about the state of his flower garden, and would love some volunteers to tend his flowers while he is indisposed. There's some heavier yard work too, if anybody would like to give Thorin a hand.

But mostly Richard is going to want company while he is convalescing. Thankfully he has finally come back from disturbingly pathetic invalid to a fairly normal Richard who happens to be a little bit sick. Unfortunately, he is weaker than he thinks he is. He is absolutely NOT supposed to lift anything heavier than 10 pounds for the next 2 or 3 months, which really limits what he can do. Visitors at Walker Methodist would be welcome, but visitors once he is home again would be even more welcome.

He is now healthy enough that Amber and I are taking off tomorrow evening on our long-planned mother/daughter trip to Scotland with only a little trepidation. Richard and Thorin will have to negotiate the bureaucratic and communication challenges of talking to nurses, doctors, social workers and assorted paper pushers to get him out of the Transitional Care Unit. They are nervous about that because they usually make me take care of that kind of thing, but it will probably be good for them. Thorin can mow the lawn and shop and cook and such, but if those folks who offered home cooked meals earlier are still in the mood once Richard gets home, I'm sure they would love to have people show up with food and cheer.

To review: he is at Walker Methodist Health Center, 3737 Bryant Ave South, Room 228-2. Technically visitors can come any time - practically speaking I'd say up to 9 or 10 pm. Even Richard has given in to the early-to-bed-early-to-rise schedule of a medical facility. Speaking of which, time for the 2nd visit of the day. Thanks to all for you support and encouragement.

Walker Methodist is right on the bus route I take home from my current temp assignment. I stopped off to visit him this evening and will plan on doing so again as often as I can - there and when he's home again.
