Juice of the Week

Somehow I spent most of the day fooding. Went on a bit of a cleaning tear, not only washing leftover dishes and wiping down the counters, but cleaning all the dried gunk off the blender, the juicer and the microwave. I brought in, sorted and put away the groceries I'd left in the car overnight, tried out a new flavor of coffee with the embarrassing name of Jamaica Me Crazy. And then I started experimenting with new juicer recipes, and then photographing the results in arty still-life settings.
The one featured in the user icon was really good, but the winner was the simplest of them all. All 3 of us liked it. It was so good that instead of skimming off the green foam and throwing it away, I put it in a wine glass and ate it with a spoon. This was some GOOD veggie juice! The only downside is that this recipe makes only about a cup of juice. Spinach doesn't actually have a lot of juice in it, as it turns out. The volume of juice can be markedly increased by tossing in a cucumber. It's not quite as delectable, but thinner and a little easier to drink.
Spinach Lemonade
4 cups loosely packed fresh spinach
1 very large Granny Smith apple
1/4 lemon, partially peeled but with a little bit of the zest still on it

The runner-up was also very tasty, and extremely photogenic. The picture looked so lovely that I named it...
Harvest Carrot Juice
6-8 large carrots
4 stalks celery
1/4 lemon, partially peeled
1 medium banana pepper, seeds and all
1/2 small peeled onion
