I signed up for a weekend posture class (no, really!) given by Esther Gokhale herself. I looked at the address (2637 27th Ave South, Minneapolis) and just couldn't place where it was. The best I could come up with was "somewhere near the Hexagon Bar." I looked it up on Google maps, but the "Ivy Arts Building" just wasn't ringing any bells. I went into street view so I could see what the building looked like. What, that big dark brick thing? Why does it look so familiar?

Oh, right! It's Flour City. The huge, noisy, enigmatic ornamental iron works 2 blocks from where I used to live. Wow. I always found it an impressive old building, and I'm glad they didn't tear it down. I look forward to seeing what they did with the inside.

And it looks like this is where Bedlam Theater relocated. Neat. I hope it's a Fringe venue next year.

As soon as I read the address I thought, she used to live near there. So I was perplexed that you couldn't place where it was. But good for impressive old buildings not being torn down!

Oh, wow. You will have to report on how that goes. I read her book and was interested, but my proprioception is too bad for me to do anything myself.

Who doesn't have bad posture? Man, I sure do. Even when I think about it. I'd love to hear how this goes.

My grandfather worked for Flour City Ornamental Iron back in (I think) the late 1930s. I would be interested to see that building, and to hear what you thought of it.
