It's Memorial Day weekend, and the side gate on King's Highway is wide open. This year there's a special treat. Not only is the magnificent Lakewood Chapel open for visitors, the brand new mausoleum is opening its doors as well. I just biked over there for my annual futile attempt to capture the beauty of that chapel "on film" (do we have a digital equivalent for that phrase yet?"

"Capture some images"? It doesn't really have the same ring though.

"on screen"?

"digitally"?

"Record." No, "photograph." The chapel is indeed the loveliest place in the city.

"It is difficult to capture the beauty of this place on film." What phrase replaces "on film"? Surely not "on photograph." Maybe "photographically" or "with a photograph" but both of those sound so clunky.

Maybe "to capture on film" is just a lovely turn of phrase that has now become meaningless?

I was thinking of the verb. "I just biked over there for my annual futile attempt to photograph the beauty of that chapel." It's a lovely turn of phrase that isn't meaningless, though. It's like "dial the phone."
