... for making our annual carol singing party a great success.  Really, I should say, "Richard's carol singing party" as he is the one who decorates the house, spends days preparing a huge spread of food, and stalwartly leads the singing. Y'all really don't have to bring all that food, since there is simply no stopping R from filling every square inch of our groaning board himself and then we have nowhere to put the contributions. But more food kept showing up, and despite the multitudes (I think there were about 50 people this year!) we have a ton of comestibles left over. Fortunately baked goods freeze fairly well.

Even more fortunately, we're having another party in a week. See you on New Years Eve?

It was a delightful party in many ways. I am sorry Anna didn't want to stay for "Jingle Bells," but she is volume- and noise-sensitive, and it was past her bedtime.

It's a pretty overwhelming party for little ones. I think Josie had already left by the time Anna reached her limit, and she's used to the place. I'm glad you brought her - it was such a stroke of luck to have TWO 4-year-old girls arrive more or less simultaneously. If we have little kids again next year we should sing the children's songs at the beginning and then send them upstairs to play.

Thanks so much for hosting! Richard may do most of the work, but it's certainly generous of you to open your home to everyone -- and to provide a hand with the drumming!

I had a great time and was only sorry to have to leave before the very last song was sung.
