Over the edge and into the abyss?

It was pretty anti-climactic when the nation finally ran over the Fiscal Cliff on Jan 1 - mostly because we then spent the next 2 months hanging from a little branch called "sequestration."  So yesterday the branch finally broke and we are presumably plummeting to the bottom of the cliff. Why does nobody seem worried?  Even Wall Street isn't reacting. When we actually hit the ground on Mar 31 and the government shuts down will anyone notice?
